Wicked Part
Two: Wicked For Good
Directed by Jon M
Chu
Wicked – Part
Two is a solid continuation of the story,
but it doesn’t quite recapture the magic
of the first film. While the production
values remain high — with impressive
performances, striking visuals, and strong
musical moments — the sequel feels less
cohesive and emotionally resonant than its
predecessor.
The biggest issue lies in the
storytelling. There are noticeable plot
holes, and at times the narrative doesn’t
fully connect to either Part One or the
original Wizard of Oz mythology in a
satisfying way. Some character motivations
feel rushed or under explained, which can
pull you out of the experience, especially
if you’re invested in the deeper lore of
Oz.
Another factor holding the film back is
its pacing. Certain scenes linger longer
than necessary, while other moments that
deserved more emotional weight are rushed.
This uneven rhythm makes the movie feel
slightly less engaging, especially
compared to the tighter, more purposeful
flow of the first installment. As a
result, the story never quite reaches the
same level of wonder or emotional payoff,
even when the pieces are in place for
something truly powerful.
That said,
the film is far from a disappointment. The
cast still delivers, the world-building is
visually rich, and there are moments that
genuinely shine. It’s entertaining and
well-made — just not as magical, seamless,
or captivating as Part One.
Overall, Wicked – Part Two is a good film,
but one that ultimately feels more like a
respectable continuation than a truly
spellbinding conclusion.
